MANILA – Senator Leila de Lima on Wednesday refused to comment on President Rodrigo Duterte's promise to release a matrix that supposedly explains the dynamics of the illegal drug network in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) under the previous administration.
''Ang pwede ko lang masabi ho ngayon, I say it again, those accusations against my alleged drug links are a complete falsehood and absolute lie,'' De Lima told reporters.
Duterte said on Tuesday the matrix would explain De Lima and former Justice Undersecretary Francisco Baraan III's involvement in the illegal drug trade in the NBP.
"I will show to you, maybe this week, the matrix. Vina-validate ko lang. 'Yung matrix ng Muntinlupa connection. Nandoon si De Lima, actually," Duterte told reporters on Tuesday.
Baraan on Wednesday denied any involvement in the NBP drug trade.
Duterte also said a governor, who is also his friend, is included in the matrix.
"There is also a governor. You know, he's my friend. I can't believe it, but andyan siya sa ano...(it's a) revelation," he added.
Duterte earlier accused De Lima's former driver and bodyguard, Ronnie Dayan, of being her link to convicted drug lords, who were supposedly allowed to run their illegal operations from detention when she was justice secretary.
