NEGROS ORIENTAL- A policeman allegedly involved in the illegal drug 
trade was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Bayawan City, Negros 
Oriental Wednesday.

The police officer was identified as P01 Nigel Electona.

According to Negros Oriental police chief Senior Supt. Nestor Tiempo,
 the buy-bust operation happened inside a hotel in Bayawan City.

He said Electona has long been in the drugs watchlist of the Negros 
Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO), and has been reprimanded 
several times because of his alleged illegal drug transactions.

Sachets of shabu weighing two grams,with a street value of P24,000, 
drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and P500 marked money were confiscated 
from the suspect. Authorities also confiscated his caliber .45 service 
firearm. 
 
Electona was last assigned to the Provincial Public Safety Company. 
He was recently transferred to Dumaguete Police Station but failed to 
report to his new assignment due to medical reasons.

Electona will face charges for the violation of Republic Act No. 9165
 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He will also face an administrative
 case, as he is an active member of the Philippine National Police 
(PNP).
