In a twitter post of PTV 4 reporter Jervis Manahan, he stated that CHR is proposing a  budget for 2017 which is P36 million higher than current budget.

Commission on Human Rights Chair Chito Gascon presents the said 2017 budget amounting P496.136 million in Day 3 of HOR deliberations.

The proposed budget will be primarily used to augment personnel services to respond to mounting challenges faced by the commission.

Interventions include increasing the number of special investigators per region, as well as creating a digitized docket system where all of the investigators can input cases.

CHR is among gov't agencies with smallest proposed budget allocation for 2017.

CHR also asks for Congress’ help to strengthen their investigation and human rights programs. Gascon says they want to strengthen program assisting human rights victims and they want to use their 30th anniversary to promote it.
