Gordon added that the President’s repeated endorsement of the killing of drug suspects if they fight off policemen leads to a misconception that he is sanctioning the use of unnecessary violence. <br />

“Maingay ang Pangulo, sobrang ingay ng Pangulo. Tama lang na ipakita niya na galit siya sa droga pero huwag na siyang mag-ingay na ‘I will kill you,’ Hindi tama ‘yan,” Gordon said.<br />

“Kaya he is falling on his own sword, nadadapa siya sa kanyang espada dahil salita siya nang salita, napag-bibintangan tuloy ang bansa na ‘yan ang nangyayari.”<br />
<br />
[The President is too noisy. It is alright for him to show that he loathes drugs, but he shouldn’t say ‘I will kill you.’ That’s not right. He is falling on his own sword, tripping on his sword because he talks and talks so the country is accused that that’s what is happening.]<br />

But Gordon, who is leading an inquiry into the spate of extra-judicial killings under the Duterte administration, agreed with the President that other countries, especially the US, should not interfere with Manila's anti-narcotics policies.<br />
<br />
Gordon said the Western superpower has no moral superiority to investigate possible abuses against Filipino drug suspects, given its own record of rampant police killings. <br />
<br />
“One dead is one dead too many, kailangang imbestigahin pero wag sila [it should be investigated, but not by them (US)]. Let those without sin cast the first stone,” he said. <br />

<b>MANILA, Philippines – <a href="http://todaysupdateph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">President Rodrigo Duterte</a> plucked a single name from his final list of suspected drug personalities and announced it in public.<br /><br />"I'll name him publicly. I heard he was ambushed somewhere. Nandito ang pangalan niya (His name is here), <a href="http://todaysupdateph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">Judge Hector Salise</a>, Agusan del Sur," said Duterte on Friday, September 30, during a gathering of women police in Davao City.<br /><br />Salise and his driver were ambushed last September 23 while passing through a highway in Butuan City. Salise was rushed to the hospital after sustaining gun shot wounds. He was reported to have been shot in the head, and as of September 24, was in intensive care.<br /><br />Salise is known to handle illegal drugs cases in the Bayugan Regional Trial Court. He is seen as an anti-drugs advocate, supposedly because he takes a tough stance against drug suspects.<br /><br />But Duterte on Friday accused Salise of "<a href="http://todaysupdateph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">case-fixing</a>." He also said he did not know who was behind the judge's ambush.<br /><br />"We really did not know who did it but iyan ang mahirap, if pumasok ka sa droga tapos nabayaran ka (that's what's difficult, if you get into drugs and you are paid)," said Duterte.<br /><br />Salise's name is the only name from the list which Duterte mentioned in his speech as of posting.<br /><br />As in several previous speeches, Duterte showed the thick list to the public but only teased a few names and details.<br /><br />He again said he has had it "<a href="http://todaysupdateph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">revalidated and revalidated</a>," with the list supposedly already screened by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police, military, and National Intelligence Coordination Agency.<br /><br />Duterte said his list also contains the names of two congressmen, more judges, and a lot of barangay captains and police.<br /><br />Apology for mistake<br /><br />Recently, Duterte <a href="http://todaysupdateph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">apologized</a> for tagging former Pangasinan Governor and now representative Amado Espino Jr as being involved in the drug trade.<br /><br />He said then, "Insofar as the drugs, I think that somehow we were negligent in counterchecking in the first report." <b>PAMPANGA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday, September 27, issued a public apology to several Pangasinan officials led by former governor now 5th District Representative Amado Espino Jr for being "negligent in counterchecking" a drug matrix he had earlier released to the public.<br /><br />In a news conference after he inspected a shabu laboratory at the foot of Mount Arayat in this province, Duterte apologized to Espino, Pangasinan District Board Member Raul Sison, and Pangasinan Provincial Administrator Raffy Baraan.<br /><br />"I'd like to apologize to you publicly. I say now, I'm very sorry. Trabaho ko 'yan (That's my job); it's part of my territory. Sometimes you're correct that life is not fair," he said.<br /><br />"Insofar as the drugs I think that somehow we were negligent in counterchecking in the first report," Duterte said.<br /><br />Duterte was referring to a "<a href="http://getupdatedph.blogspot.com/2016/09/look-president-dutertes-corrected-drug.html">drug matrix</a>" that implicated several local officials, and government bureaucrats with supposed links to Senator Leila de Lima and her alleged involvement in the illegal drugs trade when she was justice secretary overseeing the Bureau of Corrections.<br /><br />Espino, a Liberal Party ally, was tagged in the matrix as the "richest politician in Northern Luzon" who has "amassed unexplained wealth."<br /><br />Duterte said he was taking "full responsibility" for the lapses in the creation of the list.<br /><br />"I take full responsibility [dahil] ako nag-announce (because I announced it)," he said.<br /><br />Duterte, known for his propensity to pepper speeches and interviews with expletives, added: "Hindi ako kargado ng 'fried chicken' tulad ng iba. Masama bunganga ko pero 'pag ako nagkamali, it comes from the heart, I'm sorry," he said.<br /><br />(I'm not full of "fried chicken" like others. I have a bad mouth but when I make a mistake, it comes from the heart, I'm sorry.)<br /><br />"Fried chicken" is a local pun for "pride."<br /><br />Duterte, however, insisted that De Lima and Baraan's brother, former justice undersecretary Francisco Baraan III, have "clear" links to illegal drugs.<br /><br />The President explained that "there was a gap that can't be explained" between Baraan and Espino.<br /><br />This was despite having the report validated at least 4 times. The President said in an ambush interview late Thursday, September 22, that he had that particular matrix revalidated again as he could not find any links between Espino, among others, to illegal drugs.<br /><br />He added: "Kung meron man [link] it's either intriga, tsismis (If there were any links, it's either just intrigues, rumors) or it is purposely done without really checking the validity."<br /><br />Duterte said, however, that there was "probable cause" in terms of the officials' alleged links to black sand mining operation, as alleged in the drug matrix. He said he would not apologize for making this allegation.<br /><br />Espina had earlier met with Duterte to ask him for a chance to clear his name.<br /><br />The President in turn ordered an investigation on the former governor.
